it's time for round two of the IWG FemFem Book Club, yay!
This month of May is dedicated to women and their perception of beauty, especially their own, and the female body image. And what better author could introduce us to these topics than a supermodel. Wait, what, a supermodel?! One of those perfectly photoshopped, extraterrestrial, thigh gap, skin, bones and boobs creatures? Yes, indeed!
Our May book is:
Perfect is Boring by Tyra Banks and her mom Carolyn London
The mother daughter duo talks about body insecurities and what it means to discover one's own unique beauty in a world that tries to push it's aesthetic beliefs on us 24/7. It's an easy read, aside from the slang style that needs a few pages to get used to, and a great introduction to finding your own way of doing things by standing up for yourself. Sounds good, right? You know it!
